LED ballasts that are simpler to design, cheaper to build, and more durable than existing converters are now possible thanks to the recently introduced LinkSwitch-II family of AC-DC power conversion ICs.
PI has recently released three new offline (universal input) LED driver design ideas that utilize the low system BOM and +/-10% constant current drive accuracy of the LinkSwitch-II:
- DI-184, drives 700mA +/-10% at up to 7.6V (5.32 W) using an isolated flyback topology

- DI-185, drives 350mA +/-10% at up to 12V (4.2 W) using an isolated flyback topology

- DI-186, drives 350mA +/-10% at up to 12V (4.2 W) using an innovative tapped buck topology to reduce system cost and footprint
