Chip Capacitors are surface-mount (SMT) devices that can be offered in a wide variety of standard sizes and also capacitance values. They vary in size from tiny (.02" x 0.01") up to quite large (0.76" x 0.76"). Chip capacitors are used in nearly any type of electronic circuit. Different types of capacitor materials are used to provide a variety of capacitance values, characteristics, and temperature stabilities.
Capacitance is measured in farads, with common capacitance values ranging from picofarads (x10E-12) to a microfarads (x10E-6).
